Artist Statement

Art has been an emotional outlet for me since I was a little kid.  It allows me to express my views that others may or may not agree with.  I like to have some kind of artistic expression daily.  Unfortunatly since I’m interested in many other things typical pencil sketch art is not always what I create.  I often find found objects and incorporate them into a specific peice, almost making the world a part of my art.  Also I associate many of my daily activities with art.  Dissection in my anatomy class I consider art, for all the parts of the animal are like a sculpture, ech peice working with the others.  Disecting the peice can almost be looked at like performance art.

Yet the main messages I like to emphasize are many that people do not like to face.  I’m a realist and embrace the challenges I face daily.  I do not believe in looking away and giving up when things get difficult.  My art reflects this by covering topics that others tend to forget or ignore.  I feel as though these topics are important for awareness and need to be addressed whether they deal with government or social issues. I use art as a wake up call to others.  I want to make people realize the realities of our world that often make people cringe and look away.
